Apple unveils M6 chip with enhanced AI capabilities and performance

Share

Apple announced its M6 chip, the first processor from the company built on TSMC’s 2nm process, featuring a 12-core CPU, dual 16-core Neural Engine, and a GPU with up to 12 cores offering approximately 200 GB/s memory bandwidth, roughly a 30% increase over the previous generation. This chip marks a strategic shift toward on-device AI, as Apple decided not to release M6 Pro, M6 Max, or Ultra variants, reserving higher-end options for the M7 family expected in 2027. The M6 will power the refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro and new 24-inch iMac, with availability projected for late 2026.
