Apple has gotten too predictable. Can its next CEO bring back the element of surprise?

Tim Cook will step down as Apple’s CEO in September and will be replaced by hardware chief John Ternus. Although Cook has grown Apple into the world’s second-largest company by market capitalization, Wall Street expects Ternus to adopt a different strategy for the artificial intelligence era. Investors anticipate the new leader will increase AI spending, pursue larger acquisitions, and focus more on product innovation.
