Asian stocks rallied on Tuesday after Anthropic, the San Francisco-based company behind Claude, filed an S-1 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission. South Korea’s KOSPI gained 3.1%, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rising by 4.2% and 5.2%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 1.7%. Anthropic reported first-half revenue of $16.3 billion, an operating loss of $693 million and a net loss of $80.7 billion. The company plans to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq under the symbol “ANT,” with media reports putting its target valuation between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. China underperformed, with the Hang Seng down 0.7% and the CSI 300 down 1.3%, despite Z.ai gaining 8.9%, as export controls and cheaper domestic models limited the filing’s impact.
