Anthropic reportedly used its Claude model to help a 15-person team design custom AI chips. The goal is to reduce development time compared with traditional methods that rely on chips from Nvidia and AMD. The initiative is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its AI capabilities and build more vertically integrated computing infrastructure. Anthropic nevertheless continues to use a diverse chip setup that includes Nvidia, AMD, AWS Trainium and Google TPUs. The disclosure came as the company prepared for a potential IPO.
