Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC on Monday to launch a spot Zcash ETF to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK with a 0.25 percent sponsor fee. The fund will hold ZEC directly with Gemini as custodian, while Winklevoss Capital Fund indicated non-binding interest in purchasing up to $100 million of shares. The trust also appointed Winklevoss-backed Cypherpunk Technologies as its Zcash Ecosystem Partner to advise on protocol matters. The filing comes amid a striking resurgence for Zcash, which has surged over 2,000 percent in the past year, with Grayscale converting its trust into a spot ETF in August and 21Shares launching Europe’s first Zcash exchange-traded product.
