The US and UK signed a historic agreement on Thursday to dismantle overseas crypto and cyber scam compounds. The MoU binds the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, and Britain’s National Crime Agency. The three agencies will run parallel investigations, share intelligence on organized crime syndicates, and decide which country prosecutes each case. Americans lose roughly $10 billion annually to these schemes, a figure that keeps climbing as reported losses jumped 89% between 2023 and 2025, rising from $4.57 billion to $8.65 billion. The DOJ restrained over $700 million in April and seized an additional $25 million in July, while Coinbase froze $3 million in June.
