Nvidia will acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, representing a valuation of about 86 times the platform’s revenue, which generates roughly $150 million in annualized revenue. More than 18 million developers, researchers and creators use Hugging Face, which hosts more than 3 million models, 500,000 datasets and 1 million applications. More than 200,000 companies use this open-source AI platform, representing a major strategic position for Nvidia against closed systems from Anthropic and OpenAI. The acquisition, expected to close in the first half of 2027, is Nvidia’s second-largest ever, behind the roughly $20 billion deal for startup Groq’s assets in December. Jensen Huang confirmed that using the platform will not require Nvidia chips.
