Amazon has warned communities considering blocking data centers about the potential adverse effects on the U.S. economy and national security. In a blog post, the company argued that restrictions on data center development could slow down AI and infrastructure initiatives critical to the nation’s future. More than 100 data-center moratoriums are currently under consideration nationwide, as local resistance to such projects grows. Amazon Web Services, led by CEO Matt Garman, is countering this opposition by committing over $1 billion to support communities hosting its facilities.
