Amazon’s custom silicon business has surpassed an annual revenue run rate of more than $25 billion, after crossing $20 billion early in 2026. CEO Andy Jassy says the figure could approach $50 billion if the unit operated independently, because much of the chips’ value is embedded in AWS services. Amazon has secured more than $225 billion in multi-year commitments for its Trainium AI chips, including from Anthropic and OpenAI, while 98% of AWS’s top 1,000 customers on EC2 now use Graviton5 technology. AWS computing capacity is sold out for much of 2027 and into 2028, prompting the company to plan $220 billion in capital expenditures for 2026 to expand data centers, power and hardware.
