Alpaca sees 4x surge in API users as AI agents reshape trading infrastructure

Alpaca, a developer-first brokerage, has seen its monthly active API users surge by nearly 400% over six months, with monthly growth rates jumping from single digits to approximately 30% in early 2026. The platform now manages $1.5 billion in assets under custody and supports over 10 million brokerage accounts across more than 40 countries. The company closed a $135 million equity raise in July 2026, valuing it at approximately $1.15 billion, following a $150 million Series D in January. Revenue has doubled year-over-year for three consecutive years, and Alpaca believes the future of market infrastructure will not distinguish between a traditional share and its tokenized version on a blockchain.
