Akash’s Solana plan would end current staking rewards while allowing new AKT issuance

Share

Akash, a decentralized cloud-computing marketplace, proposed migrating its AKT token and marketplace to Solana in separate stages. Proposal 346, still being voted on as of November 2 with a deadline of 15:02:58 UTC, would authorize the migration and token portal, while the marketplace cutover would require a separate proposal. Inflation-funded staking rewards on the current chain would end at cutover, while validator roles and income would disappear when the old chain halts 90 days later. A separate emissions program could issue new AKT for compute providers and the community treasury, but its numerical parameters remain unresolved. The one-for-one conversion into SPL AKT would preserve holders’ balances but not their staking income, and future supply effects would still depend on the emissions curve, replacement staking terms and compute-credit accounting model.
