According to Jennifer Huddleston, a technology policy scholar at the think tank, such a measure could help leading developers consolidate power and make it harder for smaller companies to compete. Jack Dorsey, chairman of Block, voiced similar concerns, opposing industry-wide limits negotiated by today’s leaders, which he says could exclude those who might expose failures or build alternatives. Meanwhile, legislators like Bernie Sanders and Greg Casar have proposed pausing advanced AI development until federal safety standards are established, a proposal backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
