American billionaire Michael Dell saw his fortune plummet by $15.1 billion in a single trading session on Monday. Dell Technologies stock closed down 5.82%, hit by a broad selloff in AI-related stocks. The correction followed a call on Saturday by Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, backed by Sam Altman (OpenAI) and Elon Musk, for a coordinated slowdown in developing the most advanced AI models. Dell had been one of the major beneficiaries of the AI boom, with its shares surging 321% since January, driven by demand for servers equipped with Nvidia chips for AI data centers. The panic spread to Asian semiconductors: SoftBank plummeted more than 10% in Tokyo, SK Hynix fell 6.4%, Samsung Electronics dropped 4.1% and Kioxia shed 6.4%.
