Fears of a catastrophic scenario related to artificial intelligence are emerging at a particularly difficult time for U.S. investors, as the months leading up to a midterm election are traditionally an unfavorable period for markets. Semiconductor stocks, industrial stocks and other segments of the U.S. equity market linked to artificial intelligence fell on Monday. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned in a blog post about the need to slow the pace of AI progress for safety reasons. Several other industry figures, including Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said they share these concerns.
