Bitcoin, cryptoassets and the broader financial system are entering one of the busiest macroeconomic weeks of the year, with a Federal Reserve decision, inflation data, GDP figures and major technology earnings all due within a few days. The Fed is expected to keep its target rate between 3.75% and 4.00%, while expectations for another hike in December have risen sharply; a less restrictive outlook could support bitcoin, whereas renewed inflation warnings could add pressure. The Bureau of Economic Analysis will release its advance estimate of US third-quarter GDP and September PCE inflation on Thursday, with the latter being the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge. About 20% of S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report earnings this week, including Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Intel, while bitcoin is struggling to hold the $80,000 support after being rejected at $85,000 and falling to $79,100 on Saturday.
