Changpeng Zhao, Binance’s former CEO, is urging the cryptocurrency industry’s different factions to unite, arguing that digital assets move closely together and that internal conflict only harms the sector. His call follows several exchange-related crises, including the FTX collapse in 2022, the WazirX hack in 2024 and the recent Bitget security breach. Binance itself suffered a $6.34 billion hack on October 29, affecting Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Solana. The exchange says about $2.85 billion in stolen funds have been frozen or intercepted, 98% of affected token assets have been replenished and Binance will absorb the losses. Zhao has also warned traders about several cybersecurity threats, including a possible SignalPlus breach, fake websites impersonating Trust Wallet and vulnerabilities affecting iPhone users.
