Ethereum core developers delayed the implementation of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet until security concerns tied to eight smart contract invariants are resolved. EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 change gas charges for certain operations, potentially invalidating assumptions made by some existing projects when external calls fail. The delay follows an October 13 report from smart contract auditor ChainSecurity and gives developers more time to identify and address potential smart contract issues before Glamsterdam moves toward mainnet deployment. Glamsterdam went live on the Sepolia testnet on October 6 as part of the upgrade’s final major rehearsals.
