Payward, the parent company of the Kraken exchange, and its asset management clients acquired an undisclosed amount of AAVE tokens through the affiliated Digital Asset Special Investments I, LP fund. The transaction, announced on November 5, 2026, involves only the tokens and does not include an equity stake in Aave Group. Payward and Aave are also exploring further collaboration. Earlier, a proposed package involving 250,000 AAVE tokens and a 15% equity stake in Aave Group, valued at $385 million, was discussed in June 2026 but was not completed. The investment supports Payward’s expansion into asset management and decentralized finance, while Kraken already uses the Aave protocol on its Ink Layer-2 network and offers the DeFi Earn product.
