A 23-year-old cryptocurrency holder was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after shooting at his assailants during an attempted kidnapping in La Roche-sur-Yon on October 31. The masked men were trying to force their way into his father’s home when he used a Glock pistol to make them flee. The prosecutor argued that the shooting was an act of revenge rather than self-defense, noting that one of the assailants was already climbing back down from the balconies. The defendant was also kept in custody, banned from carrying a weapon for fifteen years and barred from staying in Vendée for five years.
