BitGo launches Bitcoin staking through Stacks for institutional clients

Share

On November 3, 2026, BitGo launched a Bitcoin staking service on the Stacks network for eligible institutional clients of BitGo Bank & Trust. The underlying Bitcoin remains locked for roughly six months in qualified custody, with no transfer to another chain and, according to BitGo, no slashing risk. Rewards are paid weekly in BTC, with a target yield of around 3% annually that varies with miner activity. Each committed BTC must be paired with STX worth approximately 5% of the Bitcoin amount, exposing clients to a second asset. Access is limited to a whitelist of institutions managed by Stacks Labs, following the Genesis Bond launch in September 2026, which attracted an estimated 230 to 250 BTC.
