Apollo Global Management has launched a European private credit platform with more than 10 billion euros, or $11.2 billion, in lending capacity. The European Credit Company will invest in performing credit for large and mid-market companies, asset-backed lending, and financing for owners of real assets. The platform is led by chief executive officer Giacomo Petrobelli and chairman Christian Meissner, with backing from the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Athora, Norinchukin Bank, Standard Chartered, and Aranda Principal Strategies. Apollo aims to meet Europe’s long-term financing needs in areas including the energy transition, power grids, defense, and digital infrastructure. The launch follows Apollo’s agreement to acquire a nearly 10% stake in Mubadala Capital.
