Binance says it covered $6 billion of the $6.34 billion in stolen funds, representing 95% of the total. The reimbursement was financed in part by a $581 million withdrawal, equal to 7,499 BTC, from the SAFU emergency reserve, a $425 million draw from the futures insurance fund and corporate cash. The exchange repurchased the stolen assets, including bitcoin, ether and stablecoins, and says the major cryptocurrencies are now fully backed. Binance resumed phased withdrawals on November 1, 2026, across 15 networks, while warning that temporary delays remain possible. The $3 billion frozen by Binance’s partners is being pursued through separate legal channels, while the FBI has attributed the hack to North Korea’s TraiderTraitor group.
