Binance expects to partially mobilize its Secure Asset Fund for Users, known as SAFU, within 24 hours after a security breach drained approximately $6.3 billion in crypto from its internet-connected wallets. The exchange says it has reserved more than $6.34 billion in company funds, including $5 billion held in the specific tokens affected, providing coverage for about 90% of the losses. SAFU is intended to close the remaining gap after Binance acquires the outstanding tokens through market transactions and over-the-counter channels, fully backing assets including BTC, ETH and USDT. Withdrawals remain suspended and are expected to resume on November 1, 2026, once the deployment is complete. Following the operation, Binance plans to replenish SAFU to approximately $1 billion.
