Anthropic is negotiating to lease a hyperscale data center campus northeast of Edmonton, according to a post circulating on X. No deal has been signed, and no project in the Edmonton area has been confirmed. The talks follow the company’s first Canadian data center lease with EverWind Fuels in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, involving a 95 MW facility scheduled to open in late 2027 and expand to 420 MW by 2028. Anthropic’s infrastructure spending rose to $7.33 billion over the past year, more than tripling from 2024, while EverWind is investing over C$10 billion in the facility and associated wind energy projects. The Alberta negotiations remain subject to price, power availability and timing, as Meta is also developing a more than $13 billion data center with a planned 1 gigawatt capacity in the province.
