Anthropic spent $2.75 million protecting its chief executive and co-founder Dario Amodei in 2025, more than four times his $654,167 base salary and over 15% of his total reported compensation of $17.96 million. The company also spent $1.29 million protecting his sister and co-founder Daniela Amodei, along with $97,055 on private-aircraft travel for Dario Amodei. Its board cited increased media attention, threats to employee safety and concerns affecting the Amodei family to justify the measures. Although lower than Meta’s roughly $22.5 million spending on Mark Zuckerberg’s protection excluding private aviation, Anthropic’s security costs far exceed the reported medians for corporate chief executives, including $401,336 among software and services companies.
