OpenAI is allowing selected ChatGPT Pro users in the United States to communicate directly with their Dots through iMessage or RCS. Powered by GPT-6 Astra, these agents accept text, photos and voice notes to handle tasks and provide updates without requiring users to open the ChatGPT app. Launched on September 29, 2026, Dots can interact with more than 4,000 apps and cloud resources, while the messaging feature was announced on October 28, 2026. The offering is currently in beta and limited to selected US ChatGPT Pro subscribers, whose subscription costs $100 per month.
