Firebird, a US artificial intelligence infrastructure company, has obtained a US export license to deliver 45,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell GPUs to Kazakhstan. The chips will power the first phase of the Data Center Valley project in Ekibastuz, developed with the national telecom operator Kazakhtelecom, with commercial operations expected in the third quarter of 2027. Later phases could bring the country’s total artificial intelligence infrastructure capacity to approximately 500 MW. Kazakhstan already operates 400 H200 GPUs and 480 B300 GPUs, while the roadmap includes more than 1,000 additional GPUs and more than 1,000 Vera Rubin GPUs by 2027. The announcement, made on October 22 and 23, 2026, came during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Astana and coincided with agreements that could facilitate up to $10 billion in investments in Kazakhstan’s artificial intelligence sector.
