General Motors plans to transfer its common shares from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq, with trading expected to begin on Nov. 17. Its “GM” ticker symbol will remain unchanged, and existing shareholders will not need to take any action. The move will make the company eligible for potential inclusion in the Nasdaq-100, marking a notable loss for the NYSE, where GM has been listed since 1911. The decision comes after the automaker presented its artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicle strategy and has aggressively bought back its shares. The stock closed at $76.31 on Monday, giving GM a market capitalization of roughly $64.4 billion.
