Zcash co-founder Sean Bowe proposed ending the automatic payments to Zcash Community Grants (ZCG), whose funding exceeds $125 million and is expected to increase further before the change takes effect. A draft proposal shared on GitHub would redirect the program’s 8% share of the block subsidy to the network’s sustainability mechanism until the current funding period ends in 2028, while leaving ZCG’s existing funds untouched. ZCG’s dashboard showed holdings of 91,453 ZEC and $8.8 million in cash, along with $2.4 million in outstanding grant commitments. The ZEC holdings alone were worth about $111 million at press time. Separately, the network’s development lockbox held 72,351 ZEC, worth roughly $89 million.
