After nearly 19 months of investigation, federal judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi dismissed all criminal charges against Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei and several people linked to the LIBRA memecoin. The judge found that the evidence did not establish any specific deception that induced investors to buy the token, nor that financial losses and unequal profit distribution were sufficient to prove fraud. He also dismissed allegations of abuse of authority, ruling that Milei had promoted the token through his personal X account and that government involvement had not been established. More than 40,000 investors reportedly suffered losses, while a small group of wallets withdrew approximately $100 million; the token, which reached a $4.6 billion market capitalization, plunged 96% within seven hours.
