Ethereum’s Glamsterdam testnet hits setback – Why Solana remains ahead

Share

Ethereum has cancelled the activation of Glamsterdam on the Hoodi testnet, initially scheduled for October 26, 2026, after security flaws were found affecting 13 projects. The flaws would have prevented cancelled transactions from being retried and made it easier to compromise smart contracts with little gas. Glamsterdam aims to raise the block gas limit from 60 million to 200 million and enable parallel transaction processing, following a successful test phase on Sepolia in early October. Solana nevertheless retains a substantial lead, with 75 times more usage, up to 275 times more capacity and reported transaction finality up to 3,800 times faster. Ethereum plans to reduce finality from more than 12 minutes to about three minutes through decoupled consensus, expected in early 2028, while also preparing for post-quantum signatures.
