The Ethereum Foundation has postponed the deployment of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, initially scheduled for October 26, without setting a new activation date. Developers want to continue examining interactions between EIP-8037, which increases the cost of creating data in the network’s state, and mainnet smart contracts. The related gas refund could finalize operations that were previously cancelled when a transaction failed, potentially creating unexpected behaviours or security flaws. The upgrade aims to make permanent storage more expensive and thereby limit the growth of Ethereum’s state as transaction volumes increase.
