Etherscan has developed a ChatGPT extension that lets users query balances, transactions, and verified contracts across more than 60 blockchains using natural language. It relies on Etherscan’s MCP server without an API key or account, and its sixteen tools are strictly read-only, with no ability to sign transactions. By default, the extension operates on Ethereum, but it can query other networks, including Coinbase’s Base. Paid features require a personal API key, increasing the number of available tools from 16 to 21 and providing rate limits based on the selected plan. Once connected, however, the plugin may receive the conversations and memories shared with ChatGPT.
