Texas Instruments expects each humanoid robot to contain between $500 and $1,000 worth of chips, as it anticipates an increase in robot production in 2027. The analog semiconductor giant is targeting three product categories for these machines: gallium nitride power devices, C2000 real-time microcontrollers and precision analog components. Its GaN power solutions, including the DRV7167 and LMG series, are designed for motor joints operating at pulse-width modulation frequencies above 100 kHz, with a target of 48 volts and 1 kilowatt. Texas Instruments already supplies components to Apptronik, collaborates with NVIDIA on the IWR6243 mmWave radar sensor and the Jetson Thor platform, and is using UBTECH’s Walker S2 humanoid robots on its own production lines.
