Meta plans to improve Muse’s computing cost efficiency by more than ten times over the next year, even as user growth is expected to increase its expenses. According to unverified external estimates, serving 100 million users would require approximately 65,000 CPUs and 75 PB of DRAM, costing around $2.8 billion. Applying the same reasoning to Facebook’s estimated 3 billion users would bring the bill to approximately $84 billion if the current cost structure remained unchanged. Meta is offering Muse subscriptions at $20 and $100 per month to offset heavy users, against a backdrop of capital expenditures forecast between $125 billion and $145 billion in 2026.
