Nvidia presented the OpenShell Reference Architecture in Berlin, combining Vera CPUs, the open-source OpenShell runtime and BlueField-4 chips running Sentry to contain and monitor AI agents. Sentry inspects agent traffic in a separate hardware domain and can quarantine an agent within milliseconds, without requiring cooperation from the agent or its host. The design includes a gateway, a supervisor, an isolated sandbox and a policy prover that formally verifies permissions. CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler and Check Point are integrating support, while BBVA and Santander are exploring the architecture for agent safety and governance; the architecture is available now, but Sentry is planned for early next year.
