Alpenglow began activating on Solana’s mainnet on October 21, according to the Solana Foundation. The upgrade aims to reduce transaction settlement times to about 150 milliseconds, down from 12.8 seconds with the previous system, subject to network conditions. The existing process will continue operating for a time before the new mechanism takes over, while validator votes will no longer be counted as transactions recorded in blocks. SOL traded around $106.85, with the $108–$109 area and then $112 seen as the next recovery milestones.
