France’s Treasury Department, AMF, Bank of France, and ACPR have jointly responded to the European Commission’s consultation on revising the MiCA regulation. They propose establishing a European framework for regulating crypto influencers and using automated data collection to identify unlicensed platforms. Paris is also seeking stronger coordination against unauthorized providers and direct ESMA supervision of the largest service providers. The authorities want licensed platforms barred from serving stablecoins that do not comply with MiCA, as well as clearer rules for staking, lending, and borrowing, plus reserve and redemption safeguards. No changes have been proposed yet: the Commission is due to publish its report in 2027, before any revision can be adopted by the European Parliament and the Council.
