Hyperliquid Policy Center, an organization linked to the Hyperliquid ecosystem, sent a letter to the U.S. SEC requesting more favorable regulations for cryptocurrency airdrops. The letter, signed by Jake Chervinsky, the organization’s CEO, proposes extending the current exemption to publicly announced distributions, provided that tokens reward user activity and are not used to raise capital. This initiative follows the massive distribution of 31% of HYPE tokens carried out in November 2024, while 38.9% of the total supply is reserved for future emissions and community rewards. Regulatory easing could facilitate new distributions, including to U.S. users. The SEC’s public consultation ends on October 20, after which the regulator will decide whether to adopt or modify its proposal.
