Fidelity Digital Assets has settled with California for $500,000 over allegations of past withdrawal restrictions on crypto assets. The settlement requires written notice if crypto transfers for retail customers are discontinued, but expressly excludes tax-advantaged accounts, including IRAs. Crypto transfers for ordinary accounts became available to all California customers by June 2025, following a restricted period from November 2022 to April 2025. No customer compensation fund is included, and Fidelity denies any wrongdoing. Fidelity Crypto IRA remains unavailable in California and Oregon, with no announced launch date.
