Bitget will end services for a subset of its users in a one-off exercise, with affected users receiving direct notifications via email, in-app messages, and push notifications outlining next steps and withdrawal arrangements. This decision comes weeks after the platform suffered a $387.5 million hack on September 24, where attackers exploited a zero-day flaw to steal nearly 103 million XRP across 11 blockchains. Bitget temporarily suspended withdrawals and tapped its User Protection Fund of over $464 million to make users whole, but only approximately $840,000, equivalent to 0.2% of stolen assets, had been publicly frozen by September 29. The platform’s BGB token has declined by 5.5% since the incident, dropping from above $2 to $1.89. The move also comes as Bitget faces increasing pressure to meet stricter regulatory requirements worldwide.
