Hackers Jailbreak iPhone 18 Pro on Stage, and It Survives a Reboot

Share

Security firm Calif.io demonstrated an untethered jailbreak on an iPhone 18 Pro running iOS 27.0.1 at the Hexacon conference in Paris on October 16. It is the first permanent untethered jailbreak to successfully run on these devices, surviving a reboot with full root access. The team showed the exploit working by restarting the phone and accessing it via SSH without external assistance. Calif.io has not disclosed which vulnerabilities were used and does not plan to release a public tool at this time. Apple’s iOS 27 security notes already credit Calif.io for two unrelated crash bugs, with no confirmed link to this demonstration.
