MSCI is moving forward with a proposal that could remove Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, from its global equity benchmarks. The index provider will implement changes to classify non-operating companies as ineligible for its Global Investable Market Indexes. Strategy, which owns 848,250 bitcoins worth $69.2 billion, is the world’s largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. The changes will take effect as of the close of November 30, 2026. If removed from MSCI indices, fewer institutional investors would be able to hold the stock, and Strategy shares were trading over 6% lower on Friday.
