Ledger unveiled Atom, an $849 Android-based device designed to sign crypto transactions alongside the user’s phone. The device looks like a regular smartphone but without cellular calls, SMS, or emergency calls. Atom features a dedicated secure element chip running Ledger OS that takes over the screen when approving transactions. The device ships with Solana Mobile’s Seeker app preinstalled and the Founders Edition is expected to ship in summer 2027. The launch comes days after a suspected $86 million drain tied to reseller CryptoBilis in Southeast Asia was revealed. According to Ledger, Atom’s design would have blocked the hardware implants used in that attack.
