A sophisticated criminal group hacked Ledger devices by inserting a component capable of capturing the 24-word recovery phrase and sending it via mobile network. Losses linked to this supply chain attack are estimated between 86 and 93 million dollars. Ledger unveiled Ledger Atom, a new device equipped with an active shield surrounding sensitive components and powered by a separate five-year battery, which detects any tampering attempt and records an alert in the secure chip’s tamper-proof memory. Ledger Atom is priced at 849 euros, with deliveries planned for summer 2027.
