Oracle has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to expedite approval of the Green Chile pipeline, an approximately 17.8-mile conduit designed to carry up to 400 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to Project Jupiter, its data center campus in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. Originally scheduled for August 2026, the pipeline’s in-service date has been pushed to February 2027 following two rejections by the New Mexico State Land Office of the route crossing state trust lands, forcing planners to reroute it largely onto federal land. Oracle plans to power the campus using Bloom Energy fuel cells providing between 2.45 and 2.5 gigawatts of electricity, and is evaluating an interim solution of trucking in compressed natural gas at an estimated cost four times higher than pipeline delivery. The project could generate nearly 5,800 peak construction jobs and an economic impact exceeding 13 billion dollars over its lifespan.
