The High Court in London issued a preliminary ruling in a dispute over approximately 61,000 seized bitcoins, estimated at £3.8 billion. These assets were confiscated during an investigation into Zhimin Qian, a Chinese national sentenced for orchestrating fraud against thousands of victims in China between 2014 and 2017. Judge Mark Turner ruled that Chinese law should apply to victims’ claims rather than English law, narrowing their path to recovery. In South Korea, authorities approved measures to block access to 27 unregistered crypto exchange platforms, including KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex, Bitrue, CoinW, BTCC, BitMart, BingX and DigiFinex. A TD Cowen analyst forecast that the CFTC framework for leveraged and margined crypto trading could see a proposal in late Q1 or early Q2 2027.
