Ledger, a crypto hardware wallet firm, has discovered that at least one device had been tampered with through the insertion of an external hardware component. This finding comes from the investigation into the security incident involving CryptoBilis, an authorized reseller in Southeast Asia. CryptoBilis has ceased all hardware wallet sales as a precaution. Mark Karpelès, former CEO of the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox, has independently confirmed finding similar hardware modifications after examining a Ledger Nano X device from Malaysia that contained a hidden electronic component despite appearing to have intact packaging.
