1 Year Since Crypto’s Biggest Liquidation Event: Bitcoin Hasn’t Fully Recovered Yet

On October 10, 2025, the cryptocurrency market experienced its worst liquidation event in its 16-year history, with over $19 billion in positions liquidated within 24 hours. Bitcoin crashed from $122,000 to $105,000 in hours, and over 1.6 million traders were affected. Since that event, bitcoin has lost 53% from its peak and currently trades around $82,000 to $83,000, approximately 34% below the 2025 high. This crash marked the beginning of a prolonged bear market that saw bitcoin fall below $58,000 on July 1.
