Palantir CEO Alex Karp states that only two types of people will succeed in the AI era: skilled trade workers or neurodivergent individuals. Trade professionals like electricians and plumbers are difficult to automate and increasingly in demand as tech companies build massive data centers. Palantir has launched a Neurodivergent Fellowship to recruit talent that thinks differently, as well as a Meritocracy Fellowship offering $5,400 per month to high school graduates not enrolled in college. Karp, who is dyslexic himself, told the World Economic Forum in Davos that AI will destroy humanities jobs. Some tech leaders, including Microsoft’s chief scientist and Anthropic’s cofounder, argue that human skills and communication will remain essential.
